Powdered Soy Sauce

It’s always nice to bring home some unusual grocery items from a trip abroad, and powdered soy sauce was the standout item from my latest trawl through the supermarkets of Tokyo.
You could – if you really wanted – turn it back into regular soy sauce by adding a little water, but the main use for this is as a rich and tasty flavouring that you can sprinkle over salads, rub into meat before grilling, or add to boring noodles.
It cost ¥1,000 for a box of 12 sachets, which sounds quite expensive until you realise that you have used it several times and still not reached the end of your first sachet. I love this and will be looking out for more.
